Bastrop Fire Relief Bike Ride

I don't usually put many words in this blog, unless to explain where I took the pictures, but I thought this one deserved some writing.

On Saturday, October 1, 2011, a benefit was held to provide relief for those who lost their homes, businesses and livelihoods in the wildfire in Bastrop, TX, one of the most destructive wildfires ever in the United States. This benefit was organized and put on by the United Clubs Of Austin, a coalition of all the MCs in the Austin, TX area (http://www.ucotexas.org/UCOA/memberclubs.html). Bikes met at the Cowboy HD in south Austin, formed up and rode to San Marcos Toyota in San Marcos, TX. At a donation of $10 per person to ride in the group, the ride alone raised $5500. Two different clubs then donated checks totaling $2200. A chili cookoff was held at the Toyota dealership with money raised going to the cause. The "partying for a cause" continued that evening at the Roadhouse bar in Round Rock, TX with raffles, auctions, etc.

And they say bikers are nothing but hoodlums.

The bad we do, no one forgets, the good we do no one remembers.

  2. It was. No matter how many times I ride in a pack, whether it's 3 or 300 bikes, it just never gets old. :)
